Top Billing: Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davies
When Keller Dover’s daughter and her friend go missing, he
takes matters into his own hands as the police pursue multiple leads and the
pressure mounts. But just how far will this desperate father go to protect his
family?
What a scary film to watch as a mother, it comes across as
very realistic when the two girls are taken and so easily done. There is a
terrifying wait as they track down the initial suspect and then when nothing
comes of it and the father takes matters into his own hands, things really hot
up. As expected, the feelings are running high and both Hugh Jackman and Jake
Gyllenhaal are excellent in this, but it is a long film and not necessary in my
opinion. As in other films I have to wonder about the decisions the main
characters made. I know parents would do almost anything to save their children
and I know it wouldn’t make a good story if they made all the right choices, as
parents that is just not the case. It lost all realism at one point and all I
could do is wish for it to end, regardless of the great two lead characters.
